Over 6,000 residents of Dushanbe to receive extraordinary grants on occasion of Tajikistan’s Independence


DUSHANBE


, September 6, Asia-Plus -- The mayor of


Dushanbe


, Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, announced on September 6 that 756,650 Somonis have been allocated from the city budget to provide extraordinary grants to some residents. 


”This aid is provided on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of


Tajikistan


’s independence,” said


Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the mayor. 


According to Saidov, the beneficiaries include veterans of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, the spouses of servicemen who died in that war, the participants of cleanup operation at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and others, totaling 6,356 people. Each will receive 150 Somonis.


In addition, employees of the department of public services and utilities of the mayor’s office as well as officers from the Dushanbe police and security directorates will receive extraordinary grants of 100 Somonis each, according to the mayoral press service.
