DUSHANBE, March 12, 2013, Asia-Plus — The Tajik Drug Control Agency (DCA) director Rustam Nazarov is participating in the 56th session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (UNCND) that kicked off in Vienna, Austria on March 11, the DCA press center reports.
The session that runs through March 15 has brought together drug control chiefs from 169 countries of the world, the source said.
Tajik drug control chief is expected to deliver a statement during the discussion of the 2011-2014 Regional Program for Afghanistan and Neighboring Countries.
The Regional Program for Afghanistan and Neighboring Countries covers the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) support to anti drug trafficking efforts in the countries of Central Asia. The Regional Program is a strategic framework for the work of UNODC and multilateral partners and focuses largely on counter-narcotics and the rule of law in order to respond effectively to drug trafficking and organized crime. Building on past successes, examples of future work may include the training of counter-narcotics law enforcement officials, joint raids, drug seizures and border patrols and activities to tackle cross-border illicit money flows.
