Tajik interior official reports on law-enforcement officers charged with crimes

DUSHANBE, October 16, Asia-Plus – Major-General Emomali Azimov, the chief of the Interior Ministry department for internal investigation, told journalists in Dushanbe on October 16 that that criminal charges have been field against 61 law-enforcement officers in January-September of this year. 

According to him, they most (some 75 percent) are charged with corruption-related crimes, including six cases of bribery.  Besides, five police officers are charged with having been involved in drug trafficking.    

Last year, criminal proceedings were instituted against 91 law-enforcement officers, Azimov said.  

“The major part of the crimes committed by the law-enforcement officers has been revealed by officers from the Interior Ministry department for internal investigation,” Azimov noted.
