Tajik security officers ward off smuggling of large amount of heroin into Dubai

DUSHANBE, September 20, 2013, Asia-Plus — Officers from the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) have reportedly warded off smuggling of a large amount of heroin into Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

According to the SCNS press center, the 41-year-old woman, P.D., was detained at the Dushanbe airport on September 19.  She was going to travel to Dubai with 2.70 kilograms of heroin hidden in her suitcase.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug peddler and an investigation is under way.
