DUSHANBE, January 11, Asia-Plus – Last year, 57 people, including 32 children, were killed by fires that occurred in the republic last year, Nazarboy Jangiyev, Tajikistan’s firefighting service chief said.
According to him, a damage caused by 1,218 fired registered in the country last year has amounted to 2,410,684 somonis.
“The largest number of fires was reported in Sughd – 403,” said Jangiyev, “300 fires were registered in Khatlon, in districts subordinate to the center (RRP) – 206, in Gorno Badakhshan – 31 and in Dushanbe – 282.”
The firefighting service chief said that the main causes of fires remain violation of rules of use of electrical equipment, careless use of fire and home electrical appliances.
Inspections conducted by the firefighting service last year resulted in issuing 7,433 injunctions and imposing of fines for a total amount of nearly 552,000 somonis.
