DUSHANBE, April 23, 2014, Asia-Plus — Speaking at a joint meeting of both chambers of the parliament, President Emomali Rahmon today outlined light, food and mining industries as well as engineering as priorities of Tajikistan’s economy.
“Every year, Tajikistan imports 1.5 million tons of cement and up to 5 billion somoni are spent per year for purchasing building materials, including cement,” said Rahmon. “Meanwhile, there are all necessary conditions for production of cement and other building materials in Tajikistan itself.”
He noted that Tajikistan had developed the plan of construction of cement plants with total annual capacity of more than 6 million tons.
“These cement plants will allow not only meeting the country’s requirements in cement but also exporting this building material to other countries,” President Rahmon said.
