DUSHANBE, July 21, 2014, Asia-Plus – The gathering that took place outside the Tajik Consulate in Moscow on July 18 was not sanctioned by Moscow authorities, Mohammad Egamzod, a spokesman for the Tajik Embassy in Moscow, told Asia-Plus Monday morning.

According to some Russian media sources, a group of Tajik nationals gathered outside the Tajik Consulate in Moscow on July 18 demanding compensation for Tajik nationals who were killed and injured in the Moscow subway derailment.  All participants in the unauthorized rally were reportedly brought to the district police station.

“Meanwhile, nobody has applied to the Embassy over this problem in recent days,” said Egamzod.  “Moreover, only Russian relevant agencies can solve this problem.”

According to Russian media sources, the victims of the July 15 Moscow subway derailment crash in the Moscow metro, which killed at least 23 and injured 150, will be eligible for up to 2 million rubles ($58,000) in compensation, depending on the severity of their injuries.  The families of those killed in the crash are eligible to receive the full 2 million rubles plus 25,000 rubles ($730) to cover the cost of burial.  In the case of broken limbs, the victims stand to receive up to 500,000 rubles ($14,600) in compensation, while payment to those with concussions will depend on the length of their treatment: for more than 10 days of outpatient care, they will receive 60,000 rubles ($1,700); for more than a month of care, with at least a week spent in the hospital, they can receive up to 100,000 rubles ($2,900).  To receive the benefits, victims must file a request with the Moscow Metro.

We will recall that two Tajik nationals were killed and five others were injured in the Moscow subway accident.

Three carriages derailed on a train travelling between the Slavyansky Boulevard and Park Pobedy stations at 70 km per hour on July 15 at around 8:35 am on the world”s busiest subway system.  Violation of transportation regulations reportedly caused the accident, which is one of the most serious to hit the Moscow subway in recent years.
