DUSHANBE, July 31, 2014, Asia-Plus — In a report released at a news conference in Dushanbe, Prosecutor-General Sherkhon Salimzoda revealed on July 31 that 127 criminal proceedings have been instituted against law enforcement officers over the first six months of this year.
“The majority of them are officers from the Interior Ministry, the main Border Guard Directorate and the Ministry of Defense,” Tajik chief prosecutor noted.
“Criminal proceedings have also been instituted against an employee of the Prosecutor-General’s Office, who is charged with corruption,” Salimzoda said.
He further added that 56 employees of prosecutor’s officers had been fired over the past 4 ½ years; 12 of them had been fired for various crimes and 44 others had been implicated in wrongdoing that could involve crimes.
