DUSHANBE, October 4, 2014, Asia-Plus – A trial of Fakhriddin Zokirov, one of defense lawyers of Tajik tycoon Zayd Saidov, is being held behind closed doors.
Zokirov’s lawyers say the trail is being held behind closed doors at the request of the defendant himself. They refrained from giving further details.
We will recall that Fakhriddin Zokirov was arrested by the anticorruption officers for his alleged debts to a local bank on March 7, 2014. Zokirov and his partner in crime Abulfayz Ibrohimov are charged with large-scale fraud.
According to the anticorruption agency, Fakhriddin Zokirov and Ibrohimov reportedly pledged non-existent cotton ginnery to obtain a 1 million USD loan from the Tojik Sodirot Bonk (TSB). To-date, they have reportedly reimbursed only half a sum.
Radio Liberty’s Tajik Services quoted Judge Temour Hofizov as saying that Zokirov and Ibrohimov face charges of document forgery and illegally drawing up a loan.
