CIS committee for statistics expects Tajikistan’s GDP to rise 7 percent this year

DUSHANBE, April 2, Asia-Plus  — The CIS Interstate Committee forecasts Tajikistan’s gross domestic product (GDP) to expand at 7-7.5% in 2008.   

Among the top three are Azerbaijan with 16-18% growth, Armenian with 10-11% growth and Belarus with 8-8.5%

In Russia, GDP is expected to rise 7 percent in the year to December 31, 2008, Kyrgyzstan – 7 percent, and Ukraine – 6.5-7%.   

In the meantime, the annual growth rate in index of Tajikistan’s index of consumer prices is expected to stand at 14 percent this year.  

The highest annual growth rate in the index of consumer prices is expected in Azerbaijan – 17 percent, and the lowest annual growth rate in the index of consumer prices is forecasted in Armenia – 4-5 percent. 

The CIS Interstate Committee for Statistics forecasts growth rate in consumer prices to stand at 10-11 percent in Ukraine, 10 percent in Moldova and Uzbekistan, up to 10 percent in Belarus and Georgia, and 8.5 percent in Russia.
