Amonatbonk provides TJS10 million in loans to cotton farmers in northern Tajikistan

KHUAJND, April 2, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan’s savings bank, Amonatbonk, has to date provided totaling 10 million somonis (TJS) in loans to cotton-growing farms in the Sughd province, Asia-Plus has learned at the Amonatbonk branch in Khujand.   

The source at the Khujand branch said that in all, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) has provided TJS15 million to the Sughd cotton farmers via Amonatbonk.  The remaining 5 million somonis will be provided to cotton in September, he said. 

The source further added that Amonatbonk had provided loans to a number of cotton-growing farms in Bobojonghafurov, Mastchoh, Asht, Spitamen, Jabborrasulov, Zafarobod and Konibodom districts at 12 percent annual interest.     

“Besides, our branch has also managed to provide loans totaling 142,700 somonis to farmers for treating 218 hectares of cotton fields to cotton due to local deposits,” the source said.

Of funds allocated by a MoF, 1.955 million somonis were provided in loans at 7 percent annual interest to farming units in Asht, Panjakent, Shahriston and Kuhistoni Mastchoh districts for developing production and processing of farm produce,” the Asia-plus interlocutor said.
