Tajik national killed in Moscow

DUSHANBE, February 15, Asia-Plus – One Tajik national was stabbed to death and another one was seriously wounded on Thursday night as a group of teenagers attacked them in the center of Moscow, Vesti.ru reported.
The incident took place at the Pokrovka Street at around 10:20 p.m. According to witnesses, a group of teenagers numbering five persons attacked two Tajik nationals, stabbing one to death and wounding another one.
Assailants managed to escape from the scene of the incident, Russian news agency Interfax reported referring to the source at the Moscow police.
We will recall that Russian RIA Novosti reported last year that in recent years, non-whites have been frequently attacked in apparently racially motivated crimes in Russia. Some of the worst Russian cities for racist attacks are Moscow, St. Petersburg, and the central Russian city of Voronezh, the news agency said.
“Racist attacks happen with shocking regularity in Russia, and the government is shirking its responsibilities, and failing to confront the problem,” Amnesty International said in a report on racial hate in Russia in 2006.
