In the previous years, tax debts of Barqi Tojik (Tajik power utility company) have reached 300 million somoni, Barqi Tojik top manager Mirzo Ismoilzoda told reporters in Dushanbe on February 12.
“However, due to support of the government the company has managed to reduce its tax debts,” Ismoilzoda said.
According to him, Barqi Tojik last year paid taxes in the amount of 453.4 million somoni, “which is nearly 70 million somoni more than the full amount of current taxes.”
“As a result, the company paid all the current taxes and tax arrears, and thus repaid the tax debts,” Ismoilzoda said.
Despite this, Barqi Tojik remains the country’s largest debtor. As of January 1, 2020, Barqi Tojik’s debts amounted to 26 billion somoni, including a 21 billion somoni debt on the implemented investment energy projects (25 projects have already been implemented and 13 others are at the stage of implementation).
The remaining 5 billion somoni include Barqi Tojik’s debts to Sngtuda-1 and Sangtuda-2 hydropower plants, Orienbonk, etc.
