Emomali Rahmon expressed condolences to his Kazakh counterpart over the national mourning

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has extended condolences to his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev over a national day of mourning in memory of the pandemic victims, according to the Tajik president’s official website.  

Emomali Rahmon extended condolences to the fraternal people of Kazakhstan and expressed confidence that measures taken by the Kazakh government “to localize the threat of virus infection will lead to the desired results soon.”  

Tajik leader also extended condolences to relatives of those who lost their lives and wished a quick recovery to the sick people.   

“The increasing threat of COVID-19 encourages us to further strengthen solidarity, mutual support and joint efforts to prevent it,” Tajik leader noted in his message.  

Rahmon noted that Tajikistan was ready to provide a possible assistance and interested in further expansion of Tajikistan-Kazakhstan strategic partnership.”  

Recall, Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on July 9 announced a series of measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus in the country, warning his countrymen that the situation remains serious and declaring 13 July a national day of mourning in memory of the pandemic’s victims.

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev addressing the nation announced July 13 as the national day of mourning to honor the memory of citizens who died of coronavirus, which will be the ninth national mourning day in the history of independent Kazakhstan.  

According to official data from the Kazakh authorities, 1,798 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the country on July 12, bringing a total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 59,899 as of the evening of July 12.  Of them, 34,190 patients recovered and 375 died.
