The 2-day regional conference “Microfinance in Central Asia: today and tomorrow” has commenced its work today at the “Intercontinental” hotel in Astana.
Organizers of the conference, in which more than 300 delegates are taking part – Enterprise Development Fund “Damu”, Association of Microfinance organizations of Kazakhstan and a US Agency project on international development (USAID) “Central Asian Microfinance Alliance”.
The conference is held annually in Central Asian countries. Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Yedil Mamytbekov greeted the participants in his speech and noted the importance of the development of microfinance in Kazakhstan for further economic growth and improvement of the competitiveness of the country.
The objectives of the event – discussion of current problems of microfinance in Central Asian countries and their possible solutions, determination of the prospects of further development, familiarization with new technologies and knowledge exchange.
The main topics of discussion – state measures of support of the microfinance sector which are realized by the Fund of Sustainable Development “Kazyna” through the Fund “Damu”; prospects of development of microfinance on the international market and in Central Asian countries; experience of foreign countries in the use of savings cooperatives, credit system, etc.
During the conference an exhibition for investors will be held.
