“Kyrgyzstan is actually on the brink of currency crises. Significant worsening of economical situation is expected in February-March 2009,” Akylbek Japarov, the Kyrgyz Minister of Economic Development and Trade told at the government session on November 4, 2008.
Among potentially worst-hit business spheres, the minister named currency transferring slowdown (transfer of funds from labor migrants abroad), investment cutback, instability of currency exchange rates and slump in demand for Kyrgyz goods.
