Press release by TIKA Tajikistan

The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) has completed the renovation of the hemodialysis center at the central hospital in Bokhtar, the capital of Khatlon province.  This hospital serves a population of 3.5 million people.

For a long time, the hospital’s hemodialysis center was non-operational and unable to provide services due to the lack of equipment.  As part of the project, the center was equipped with new dialysis machines, and a modern water purification system was installed.

The handover ceremony was attended by the First Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan, Ghafour Muhsinzoda, Deputy Governor of Khatlon Province  Anzoura Abdusalomzoda, Head of the Khatlon Health Department Ibrohim Mousozoda, and TİKA’s Coordinator in Dushanbe, Ibrahim Ethem Ünal.

It was noted that patients from Khatlon, who previously had to travel to Dushanbe to receive dialysis services, will now be able to access such medical care in their home region.

“With the opening of this center, patients in need of dialysis can now undergo treatment in a modern and safe environment, instead of enduring exhausting trips,” stated TİKA’s representation office in Tajikistan.

The renovated center is now capable of providing services to patients with acute kidney failure, chronic kidney diseases, severe postpartum conditions, and cases of poisoning.

The aim of the project is to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure in Khatlon province, improve patients' quality of life, and enhance the level of medical services in the area.
