The Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia announces the extradition of 13 Tajiks from Russia

Thirteen Tajik nationals have been extradited from Russia to Tajikistan at the request of the Tajik law enforcement authorities.

The Prosecutor-General’s Office of the Russian Federation announced on August 9 that 13 Tajik nationals have been extradited from Russia to Tajikistan at the request of the Tajik law enforcement authorities.

All the persons have been extradited within the framework of “an active interaction with the law enforcement agencies of other countries on combating crime.”

Among the extradited persons are not only those wanted for large-scale fraud, large-scale embezzlement of state funds, drug trafficking, robberies and participating in activities of the Islamic State (IS) terror groups, but also those who escaped military service.

Recall, Russian chief prosecutor Igor Krasnov heading a delegation of the Russian Prosecutor‘s General Office was on an working visit to Dushanbe in late July for participation in a joint board meeting of the Prosecutor-General’s Offices of the two countries that took place on July 26.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Krasnov held talks with his counterpart Yusuf Rahmon and President Emomali Rahmon.

Russian media reports say Russian and Tajik chief prosecutors signed a program of cooperation between the supervisory authorities for the period up to 2024.  The program reportedly provides for the joint fight against crime and threats such as terrorism and extremism.
