KHOROG, October 20, 2010, Asia-Plus  — 228 crimes have been reported in Gorno Badakhshan over the first nine months of this year, which is 89 cases fewer than in the same period last year, the GBAO police directorate chief Yusuf Nazarshoyev remarked at a news conference in Khorog on October 19.

175 crimes registered over the report period have been solved and investigation into 29 other crimes has been temporarily suspended due to lack of witnesses and suspects.

The crime detection rate for January-September 20010 stood at 87 percent.

32 of 64 criminals and suspects wanted by police have been detained and convicted over the same nine-month period, Nazarshoyev said.

According to him, more than 120 administrative infringements, with more than half of them being related to misappropriation of state-owned and personal property, have been registered in Gorno Badakhshan over the report.

“This year, we have also investigated 143 crimes that had been committed in the region in the previous years since 1992 and among them are 10 murders,” the GBAO chief police officer added.
