Government collects some 732.5 mln somoni for Roghun HPP by Feb 20

DUSHANBE, February 22, 2010, Asia-Plus  — By February 20, the government has collected some 732.5 million somoni (equivalent to some 168 million U.S. dollars) for construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power plant (HPP), according to the Ministry of Finance (MoF).

Shares for 333.3 million somoni have been sold through Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank), more than 137 million somoni worth of shares have been sold through Orienbonk, little more than 112 million somoni worth of shares through Agroinvestbonk, 7.5 million somoni worth of shares through Tajprombank, some 14.3 million somoni worth of shares trough Tojik Sodirot Bonk, more than 2.2 million somoni worth of shares through the Bonki Rushdi Tojikiston (Tajikistan Development Bank), more than 2.4 million somoni worth of shares through Fononbonk, more than 2.6 million somoni worth of shares through Bank Eskhata and more than 420.8 million somoni worth of shares have been sold through the MoF Board of Treasury.

We will recall that to raise funds to complete construction of the Roghun HPP the government started to sell shares in Roghun to people on January 6 this year.  Tajikistan has issued 6 billion somoni (US$1.37 billion) worth of Roghun shares.
