DUSHANBE, July 29, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistani people, who now permanently or temporarily live and work in Russia’s Stavropol region, have set up the public organization, Sogdiana, according to the Russian Embassy in Dushanbe.

More than 12,000 Tajiks by origin now permanently or temporarily live and work in the Stavropol region; the majority of them work in the construction, agrarian, domestic service and public catering sectors.

“Tajiks are successful especially in the agrarian sector,” said the source at the Russian Embassy, “Farming units of some of them occupy several hundreds hectares of lands and their flocks consist of 40,000 to 60,000 head of Hissar sheep.”

All this is evidence of diligence of Tajiks and their consideration for land and respect for local traditions and rituals that earned them authority and respect among the local population, the source added.
