DUSHANBE, August 24, 2010, Asia-Plus — According to the adjusted data, the sons of slain former minister Mirzo Zioyev are not among the escaped prisoners.

The source at one of power wielding structures of Tajikistan says the escaped convicts include the 41-year-old Azimsho Ziyoev and the 38-year-old Jonibek Ziyoev.  “They are immediate relatives of Mirzo Ziyoev and they were serving their terms on charges of a number of serious crimes,” the source noted.

We will recall that Tajik law enforcement authorities had previously said that the escaped prisoners included two sons of Mirzo Ziyoev, who were jailed in late June for plotting to overthrow the government.

As it had been reported earlier, the Supreme Court sentenced two sons of Mirzo Ziyoev to prison terms up to 30 years in late June; Saidahmad Ziyoev was sentenced to 30 years and Muhamamdrizo Ziyoev got a jail term of 28 years.  They faced charges of establishing illegal armed groups, illegal possession of weapons, and plotting to overthrow or forcibly change the constitutional order of the country.
