Barqi Tojik considers possibility to increase power supply to rural areas

DUSHANBE, February 10, 2011, Asia-Plus /Avaz Yuldoshev/ — As of February 10, 2011, the water level in the reservoir powering the Norak hydroelectric power plant (HPP) was 887.71 meters.

As of February 10, 2010, the water level in the reservoir was 878.6 meters.

According to Barqi Tojik power holding (Tajik electricity supplier), current rate of inflow at the Norak reservoir is 194 cubic meters per second, while as of February 10, 2010, it was 182 cubic meters per second.

On February 9, Tajik power plants generated 54.7 million kWh of electric power, while on the same day of last year only 26.9 million kWh of electricity was generated.

In this connection, the power holding is currently considering the possibility of increasing power supply to rural areas affected by the electricity rationing that was introduced in the country last November.
