Supply of daily electricity to residential customers in Sughd reduced

KHUJAND, June 1, 2011, Asia-Plus — The supply of daily electricity to residential customers in Sughd province has been reduced even more in order to ensure regular work of pumps supplying water to agricultural fields, Mumin Toshmatov, the deputy head of Barqi Tojik’s branch in Sughd, says.

According to him, such a situation will last until June 10 or June 15.  “The second transformer at the Sughd-500 substation in Ghonchi district is expected to be introduced into operation on June 10,” noted Toshmatov.  “Introduction of the second transformer into operation will improve electricity supplies in the province.”

Specialists from China’s Tebian Electric Apparatus Stock Co., Ltd. (TBEA) are currently engaged in the transformer commissioning.

Electricity is now supplied to the Sughd-500 substation via the 500W South-North power transmission line and from there, it is distributed to the province, except Panjakent, Ayni and Kuhistoni Mastchoh districts.  The capacity of the power transmission line is 27 million kWh of electricity per day, while the capacity of the transformer installed at the substation is only 10 million kWh of electrical power per day.

Current Sughd’s daily requirements in electricity are up to 14 million kWh, while the province now receives 12.4 million kWh of electricity per day.
