DUSHANBE, June 6, 2011, Asia-Plus — Tajik President Emomali Rahmon yesterday departed for Europe for a six-day visit, according to the presidential press service.
Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi, Minister of Finance Safarali Najmiddinov, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Farrukh Hamraliyev, Chairman of the State Committee on Investment and State-owned Property Management Davlatali Saidov, State Adviser to the President for International Matters Erkin Rahmatulloyev and some other officials are accompanying Rahmon on this trip.
France is the first leg of President Rahmon’s tour of Europe. Today, he is holding a number of talks with high-ranking French state officials. Besides, in Strasbourg, which is the official seat of the European Parliament, Tajik president will address the European Parliament.
After France, the Tajik head of state will visit Luxembourg, Austria and Hungary, where he will hold talks with leaders of these nations to discuss issues related to establishment and expansion of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation in sectors like finance, energy and agriculture.
Problems of establishment of peace and accord in Afghanistan as well as reconstruction of Afghanistan’s economy will be also among major topics of the talks, the source said.
