Some 200 old crimes solved in Khatlon province in H1 2011

KULOB, July 15, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Over the first six months of this year, officers from the Khatlon law enforcement agencies have solved some 200 old crimes, including five murders, the Khatlon police directorate chief, Colonel Abdurahmon Buzmakov, told Asia-Plus today.

According to him, those crimes had been committed in the area mainly in the 1990s during the civil conflict in the country.

In the meantime, 1,617 crimes have been reported in Khatlon province in January-June this year, which is 73 cases more than in the same period last year.  Percentage of criminal cases solved was 94.6 percent.

“Sixteen murders have been reported in the province over the report period and all of them have been solved,” Buzmakov said.

He added that 317 firearms, including 59 assault rifles Kalashnikov, 46 Makarov pistols, have been confiscated from the population over the first size months of this year.  Besides, Khatlon law enforcement authorities have seized 603 kilograms of narcotics, with some 41 kilograms of them being heroin, over the report period.
