DUSHANBE, August 23, 2012, Asia-Plus — Tajik President Emomali Rahmon departed for Ashgabat, Turkmenistan Wednesday evening for an official two-day visit, the president’s official website reports.
Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi, State Adviser to the President for Foreign Policy Erkin Rahmatulloyev, Minister of Energy and Industries Gul Sherali, Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Chairman Sharif Said, Tajik Aluminum Company (TALCO) deputy director for finance and trade Sherali Kabirov and the head of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) Abdujabbor Shirinov are accompanying the president on his visit to Turkmenistan.
During his stay in Turkmenistan, Rahmon is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and some other high-ranking Turkmen state officials to discuss state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
The sides are expected to sign a number of interstate, government-to-government and inter-agency agreements, the source said.
