DUSHANBE, August 24, 2012, Asia-Plus — One person was killed and at least six others were injured on August 23 as they were hit by Mercedes in the northern Sughd province.

An official source at the Interior Ministry traffic police directorate says the accident took place on the highway from Khujand to the Ghafurov Township, the administrative center of the Bobojonghafurov district.

“Farhod Rasoulov, 33, failed to control his Mercedes-Benz and hit seven pedestrians, including two children,” the source said.  “All of them were taken to hospital, where one of the victims – Dilrabo Maqsoudova, 47 – later died from injuries sustained in the accident.”

The cause of the accident is under way.

In all, eight traffic accidents were reported in Tajikistan on August 23; six persons were killed and 9 others injured in those accidents.
