DUSHANBE, August 30, 2012, Asia-Plus — An operation conducted by police officers in Dushanbe on August 29 led to the seizure of a large amount of narcotics, the Interior Ministry’s official website reports.
A package of narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing 4.706 kilograms was found hidden in Mercedes-Benz belonging to Dushanbe resident Dilovar Haidarov.
Haidarov was arrested on suspicion of having been involved in drug pushing and criminal proceedings have been instituted against him. An investigation is under way.
Meanwhile, the Drug Control Agency (DCA) under the President of Tajikistan says Tajik law enforcement authorities have seized 3,524 kilograms of narcotics over the first seven months of this year, which is 22 percent more than in the same period last year. A totaled reportedly included 370 kilograms of heroin and 404 kilograms of raw opium.
