DUSHANBE, April 2, Asia-Plus  — Tajik parliamentary delegation led by Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, the head of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) and chairman-in-office of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC), today left for St. Petersburg to attend events organized by the parliamentary assemblies of the CIS, EAEC and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).  The events will be held from April 2-6.

Shavkat Saidov, an aide to the upper house speaker for public relations and NGOs, said that Ubaidulloyev is scheduled to deliver statements at the 30th plenary session of the CIS Parliamentary Assembly and international conference formally titled “Globalization of Migration Process: Problems of Legislative Regulation.”

Besides, during his stay in St. Petersburg, the Tajik upper house speaker will hold talks with parliament speakers from Belarus and Kyrgyzstan, as well as the European Union parliamentary assembly chairman.

As it had been reported earlier, the CSTO chairman said on March 30 that CSTO parliamentary assembly intends to pass a statement on Kosovo”s independence at its sitting April 3.  Russia’s news agency RIA Novosti quoted Boris Gryzlov, speaker of Russia’s lower house of parliament, as saying, “We”ll discuss the situation linked to the unilateral declaration of independence by Kosovo. At our plenary meeting, the CSTO parliamentarians intend to pass a corresponding statement reflecting their common position on this geo-political problem. The sitting will evaluate the threats that have been provoked by the Kosovo leaders” decision.”
