Vadim Sadonshoyev, media and public relations coordinator at the Dushanbe Office of the Eurasian Foundation of Central Asia, told Asia-Plus that the seminar participants included eight journalists from various regions of the country.

According to him, Mr. Andre Loersch, trainer of independent consultancy network Media4Democracy, conducted the seminar.

It was the second of a series of seminar conducted within the framework of the “Tajik Network of Regional Correspondents” project aimed at increasing information flow from remote regions of the country, Ms. Sadonshoyev said.  The first similar seminar was hosted by

the Dushanbe Office of the Institute for War and Peace and Reporting (IWPR).

The Eurasia Foundation has operated an office in Dushanbe since 1996 to provide local technical assistance and open-door grant making.  Initiatives have traditionally supported economics education, local NGOs and independent media.  In response to local demand, the Foundation shifted focus to encourage the development of local think tanks, civic leadership programs, higher education, multi-lingual schools, business incubators, improved tax and regulatory environments and the reintegration of deported labor migrants.
