DUSHANBE, December 4, 2008, Asia-Plus — President Emomali Rahmon’s state visit to Ukraine has resulted in signing of a number of cooperation agreements.
The main talks were held today. At first, the two leaders held one – to – one talks and continued the talks later in an enlarged format with participation of members of the government delegations of the two countries. President Yushchenko bestowed the Grade 1 “Prince Yaroslav the Wise” Order on Emomali Rahmon, and Tajik leader, for his part, bestowed the “Ismoili Somoni” Order on his Ukrainian counterpart.
According to Ukrainian president’s press service, the talks ended with signing of a number of important cooperation agreements.
President Emomali Rahmon and his Ukrainian counterpart, President Victor Yushchenko, singed a joint statement. Besides, the Tajik and Ukrainian sides signed six cooperation agreements.
The sides, in particular, signed a government-to-government agreement on cooperation in the filed of tourism. The main objective of the document is to lay legal foundation of development of the tourism cooperation between the two countries.
The signed agreement on cooperation in the filed of culture aims to promote intensification of exchange of information about cultural life in Tajikistan and Ukraine and establishment of cooperation between museums and archives of the two countries, organization of various book and photo exhibitions, prevention of illegal movement of cultural relics, etc.
The agreement singed between the two countries on cooperation in sports aims to lay legal foundation of expansion of interaction between sports federations and clubs of the two countries.
The agreement signed between Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Tajik Ministry of Agriculture provides for expansion of bilateral cooperation in animal husbandry, crop sector, veterinary, biotechnologies, agricultural engineering, etc.
The sides also singed the agreement on educational, scientific and cultural cooperation between Kiev National University and Tajik National University.
The singed plan of actions to the interstate program of long-term economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Ukraine for 2009-2012 is expected to promote expansion of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy, fuel-energy complex, industry, transport, agriculture, banking sectors, humanitarian sphere, etc.
Tomorrow, President Rahmon is visiting the Kharkov region and in the afternoon, he will return to Dushanbe.
