KHUJAND, March 25, 2009, Asia-Plus  — A bus belonging to Kyrgyz national Mamadjon Mahmoudov with more than 60 illegal Tajik migrants on board was detained at the checkpoint Dehmoy in Sughd’s Jabborrsulov district on March 24, according to the Sughd police directorate.

“Persons in the bus are mainly residents of the village of Dalyoni Poyon in Sughd’s Ghonchi district and the driver and his assistant were going to carry them for seasonal work to Russia’s Krasnoyarsk region,” the source at the Sughd police directorate said.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the driver under the provisions of Article 335 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code and an investigation is under way.
