Qairoqqum HPP reportedly increases power generation

KHUJAND, December 10, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Compared to last month, the Qairoqqum hydroelectric power plant (HPP) has increased power generation, the source at the Qairoqqum HPP administration said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

“The station is currently generating 2.304 million kWh of electricity per day, while by the end of November, daily generation of electricity has amounted to some 2 million kWh,” the source said.

According to him, five of six station’s units are now operational and one is still under major repairs.  “Specialists are working in two shifts and the unit will be reintroduced into operation in the near future,” the source added.
