KHUJAND, February 22, 2010, Asia-Plus  — The military court of the Khujand garrison has convicted Odil Hodiboyev, chief of the internal diseases department within the hospital of the Sughd garrison.  He was charged with negligence (Article 392) and bribe-taking (Article 319).  However, the doctor has been granted amnesty and released in courtroom.

The source at the Khujand military court noted that private soldier Nekrouz Zoirov diagnosed with arterial thrombosis and intoxication was taken to the hospital on June 15, 2009.  “However, they did not take an intensive care of the soldier during nine hours and he died,” the source said.

Hodiboyev is also charged with bribe taking.  “The private soldier Farrukh Sharipov diagnosed with bilateral pyelonephritis was taken to the hospital on September 23, 2009,” said the source, “When the soldier’s farther asked him about the possibility of retirement of his son from military service on medical grounds, Hodiboyev said that 200 U.S. dollars are needed for preparing the retirement documents.  He was caught red-handed on September 28, when he was taking US$200.”
