DUSHANBE, October 19, 2010, Asia-Plus — The global financial has not seriously affected Tajikistan’s construction market, Abduvali Komilov, the director of the Committee for Construction and Architecture under the government of Tajikistan, announced at a news conference in Dushanbe on October 18.
According to him, an overall space of more than 512,000 square meters in residential buildings has been made available over the first nine months of this year, which is 39,000 square meter more than in the same period last year.
“More than 3,500 construction companies now work in the country’s construction market,” said the director, “The most successful of them is Tojksomonsokhtmon.”
The global financial crisis has resulted in prices of building materials dropping and many companies have stored up building materials, using this opportunity, he stressed.
Komilov added that the National Public Library, the National Museum, the Serena Hotel Dushanbe, the Somoni Hotel and Children’s Park in Dushanbe would be finished by the 20th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence that would be marked on September 9, 2011.
