DUSHANBE, October 20, 2010, Asia-Plus — The Human Rights Center public association in cooperation with Tajik Branch of Open Society Institute/Assistance Foundation (OSI/AF-Tajikistan) and the Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development (ACTED) held a roundtable on October 19 to discuss the preliminary edition of a survey on assessment of implementation of the Tajikistan external labor migration program designed for 2006-2010.
The findings of the survey, containing information about what has been done in Tajikistan in the field of labor migration over the last four year, are said to be presented to all interested organizations and persons concerned.
The meeting participants offered their additional recommendations to the new national external labor migration strategy for 2011-2015 and the country’s new law on external labor migration.
Qahramon Sanginov, the Law Program coordinator, Tajik Branch of Open Society Institute/Assistance Foundation (OSI/AF-Tajikistan), said that OSI/AF-Tajikistan initiated the work on developing and discussing the 2006-2010 external labor migrtion program in 2005 already.
“At present development of the new national labor migration strategy is under way and recommendations adopted by the meeting participants are aimed at improving the quality of the new external labor migration strategy,” said Sanginov, “Supporting initiatives of public associations in this area, we provide transparency of processes taking place in the labor migration sphere that is one priorities of our activity.”
Commentaries on these draft legal documents of Tajik NGOs have been prepared during public hearings that took place in Dushanbe and Khujand in October 2010 under support of the OSI/AF-Tajikistan, UNIFEM CO and IOM Mission to Tajikistan.
