DUSHANBE, September 20, 2013, Asia-Plus — The International Labor Organization (ILO) is expected to release a report providing the latest estimates of the number of child laborers worldwide and regionally on September 23.
According to ILO’s website, the report, entitled “Marking Progress against Child labor: Global Estimates and Trends 2000-2012”, provides the most recent and wide-ranging assessment currently available on the extent of child labor and international efforts to stop it.
Since 2000, the ILO has been taking stock and measuring global progress on the reduction of child labor. The current report is the fourth round of child labor estimates. The analysis is also set in light of the target set by the ILO of eliminating all the worst forms of child labor by 2016.
