Russia has granted Kyrgyzstan a large credit at the request of the United States, Aleksei Mitrofanov, a well-known Russian politician, member of the Fair Russia party’s main board said live to the Russian news service.
“All loans we grant the CIS countries are endorsed by the West. To my surprise, Kudrin (Aleksei Kudrin – the Russian Finance Minister) openly told about it in his interview after G8 summit in London. He came out and stated that we have fulfilled all obligations to the international community which we undertook at G20: we have transferred a sum to the international financial organizations and a sum as assistance to CIS members. It explains why we have granted Kyrgyzstan a large loan. We granted it at the U.S. request,” Mitrofanov said.
“There can be various motivations. The Americans need Kyrgyzstan because of the transit center. There is a game, the Kyrgyz ask a huge amount for the base. If the U.S. pay the money, countries all over the world (they have 800 air bases) will demand the same sum. It is easier for them to have us crediting the Kyrgyz, rename their base into a transit center, pay Kyrgyzstan $60 million and solve the problem. They need Kyrgyzstan, that is all, “the politician said.
