Kazakhstan citizens will have for days off on the New Year holiday: January 1, 2, 3 and 4.
According to the Law on Holidays in Kazakhstan, New Year, celebrated on January 1 and 2, is the state holiday. The days of the national and state holidays are non-working days. When holidays are coincided with the weekends, a day off is the day that comes after a holiday.
As January 2 will be on Saturday, the day off will be shifted to Monday. Hence, Kazakhstan citizens will have four days off on the New Year: January 1, 2, 3 and 4.
Kazakhstan citizens will have days off on January 7, 8 and 9.
As informed earlier, the amendments to the Law on Labor were approved in December, 2005, according to which the first day of Kurban ayt, the celebration of the Muslim calendar and January 7, orthodox Christmas, will be days off.
