DUSHANBE, February 18, 2011, Asia-Plus — A working group for establishment of industrial investment zones in Tajikistan met at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT) on February 17.
Establishment of industrial investment zones in the country with regard to opportunities and capacities of Tajikistan’s large industrial cities and establishment of technical innovation and tourist centers were a major topic of the meeting that brought together representatives from the ministries of agricultural economy, energy and industries, finance, transport and communications, and education as well as the state committee on investment and state-owned property management and the academy of sciences, the MEDT source said.
According to him, the meeting participants adopted recommendations that will be considered at the next meeting of the group.
An industrial zone is an area zoned and planned for the purpose of industrial development. Industrial zones are usually located in large industrial regions of country and normally provided with good transportation access, including road and rail. These zones are dedicated to solve strategic tasks of development of county as whole or a separate territory.
