KHUJAND, August 30, Asia-Plus — Six persons were killed in three traffic accidents reported in the northern Sughd province on August 28, according to the Sughd traffic police department.
Four persons were killed last Monday as two vehicles collided in the Shahriston district. “Mercedes driven by Najmiddin Rahimberdiyev, 38, went into oncoming traffic and collided with heavy truck KamAZ,” said the source, “As a result of the collision Rahimberdiyev and three his passengers died on the spot.”
Two other fatal traffic accidents were reported in the Istaravshan district and the city of Khujand.
The 24-year-old resident of Istaravshan could not control his Daewoo and knocked down 54-year-old Orif Ortiqov who died of injuries on the spot.
Another fatal traffic accident took place in the city of Khujand. Bahriddin Ziyoev, 35, could control his Opel-Vectra and knocked down Khairi Ashrafjonova, 62. She also died of injuries on the spot, the source said.
According to the statistical data from the Sughd traffic police department, 190 traffic accidents have been registered in northern Tajikistan over the first nine months of this year. 84 persons were killed and 198 others were injured in those accidents.
