DUSHANBE, September 17, 2011, Asia-Plus – Tajikistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) is seriously concerned over increasing cases of killing of Tajik nationals in the Russian Federation.
According to the Tajik MFA information department, this issue was discussed here on Friday at a meeting of Mahmoudjon Sobirov, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Tajikistan, with Russian Ambassador to Tajikistan Yuri Popov.
During the meeting, Sobirov reportedly noted that the Tajik side was seriously concerned over cases of violent death of citizens of Tajikistan in Russia and added that recent severe murder of Tajik national in Moscow region had caused indignation in society.
Sobirov asked Popov to help in investigating that murder. Russian diplomat expressed regret for the incident and assured that he will inform his government and will take all possible measures within his competence to ensure unbiased investigation into that crime, the source said.
We will recall that the body of 24-year-old resident of Sughd’s Panjakent district Jonibek Qosimov with several stab wounds was found near the village of Vasilkovo, Sergiyev-Posad district of Moscow region on September 7, 2011.
The main investigative department of the city of Sergiyev-Posad has launched investigation into the murder.
The Tajik Embassy in Moscow has sent a note to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), asking for help in investigating the murder.
