KHUJAND, October 9, 2008, Asia-Plus — Since the beginning of this year, nine criminal proceedings have been instituted against 11 Sughd law enforcement officers, according to press service of the Sughd prosecutor’s office.
Four criminal proceedings have been instituted against police officers, one each against customs and tax officers, two against prison wardens, and one against three officers from the local anticorruption directorate. The majority of them face charges of bribery, office abuse, and service forgery.
Eight criminal cases have already moved to courts, the press service said.
