IRP leader does not lose hope to regain market in Tursunzoda

DUSHANBE, April 22, 2014, Asia-Plus – The Islamic Revival Party (IRP) leader Muhiddin Kabiri does not lose hope to regain market Sakhovat located in Tursunzoda, some 60 kilometers to the east of Dushanbe.

We will recall that in a ruling handed down on April 21 the Tursunzoda city court invalidated the decision on selling Tursunzoda’s market Sakhovat to the Islamic Revival Party (IRP) leader Muhiddin Kabiri and a plot of land in which the market is located has been given back to the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs under the Government of Tajikistan.

The court also ruled that 836,000 somoni must be reimbursed to IRP leader Muhiddin Kabiri.

According to official documents, the market is owned by Mastoura Rahmatulloyeva, the wife of IRP leader Muhiddin Kabiri.

Muhiddin Kabiri and his relatives reportedly purchased that market in 2009 and his wife Mastoura Rahmatulloyeva was registered as owner of the market and their relative was registered as director of the market.

The trial began on April 4 and Ms. Mastoura Rahmatulloyeva and Ms. Lutfiya Nematova were co-defendants.

The anticorruption agency claims that the previous owner of the market, Ms. Lutfiya Nematova, had constructed the market in the place of school stadium illegally and it asked the Tursunzoda city court to demolish the market as illegal.

Commenting on the court’s decision, IRP leader noted that they would appeal to a higher judicial instance.  “Unfortunately, the court did not take into consideration our opinion and witnesses’ testimonies,” Kabiri said.

Kabiri reminded that he had offered to finance construction of a new school stadium if the Tursunzoda mayor’s office city allocated a plot of land or to rent stadiums for organization of sports activities for schoolchildren in Tursunzoda.

On the court’s decision that 836,000 somoni must be reimbursed to him, Muhiddin Kabiri noted that 2.7 million somoni had been spent for the purchase of building materials for improvement of the market alone.

IRP leader considers that the case is politically motivated.
