A knife crime prevention operation is under way in the Tajik capital.
The Interior Ministry’s press center says fourteen young men have been detained over the past two days alone for illegal possession of cold steel.
Nine knives, three brass-knuckles, one robber truncheon and one gas gun have been confiscated from them.
A police operation, dubbed “Knife”, has been carried out by the Dushanbe Police Directorate for the purpose of confiscating cold steel, electric shockers, brass-knuckles and bats from the population, especial youth.
On November 3 and 4, the “Knife” Operation reportedly led to the detention of twenty young people in Dushanbe for possession of cold steel (offensive weapon). Among them are mainly students and senior school students. They are charged with storage and possession of an offensive weapon.
