PDPT closes its internal radio due to lack of funds

The ruling People’s and Democratic party of Tajikistan (PDPT) has postponed the official opening of its internal radio due to lack of funds.

In March last year chairman of the party, Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon, ordered the party’s Central Office to launch the party’s internal radio.

Experts did not even calculate the total volume of expenditures since they understood that the party does not have enough funds to do that, Head of PDPT’s Public Relations Department Usmon Soleh told AP.

He said the party’s budget has started to grow thanks to sale of the party’s newspaper “Minbari Khalk” which has the highest circulation of 45.000 copies. “The party’s budget currently makes 2mln Somoni,” he said.

When answering the question about membership fees, Soleh said the Central Office is not responsible to deal with these fees. “The money remain in regional and city organizations and used for their activity,” he said.
