DUSHANBE, April 8, 2015, Asia-Plus – Russian media outlets report that the CIS aerospace defense concept was discussed at a meeting of the Coordinating Committee for Air Defense under the CIS Council of Defense Ministers that took place in Dushanbe yesterday.
Colonel Viktor Chumakov, deputy secretary of the CIS Council of Defense Minister, was quoted as saying that the CIS Council of Defense Minister is expected to endorse the concept in the autumn this year. In the next year, the concept will be submitted for approval to the CIS heads of state, Chumakov added.
The Coordinating Committee for Air Defense under the CIS Council of Defense Ministers was set up in 1995 to coordinate the efforts to develop the unified air defense of the CIS. It comprises the commanders of the air defense troops (air defense and air forces) of the CIS countries.
