DUSHANBE, June 25, 2015, Asia-Plus — Two Tajik nationals have been detained in Afghan Kunduz province on suspicion of being members of a terrorist group.

Afghan news agency

Khaama Press

reports they have been detained in the Imam Sahib district.

A spokesman for the Kunduz police department was quoted as saying that the detainees said during interrogation that they had received training at a terrorist camp in Pakistan and they had come to Afghanistan to commit terrorist attacks.

Meanwhile, it is not the first case of detention of Tajik nationals in Kunduz.

In January this year, Tajik national was detained in Kunduz.  The man, who was identified as Sheroz Umarov, reportedly came to Afghanistan from Pakistan.

According to

Khaama Press

, Umarov received four-month training in Waziristan and he was sent to Afghanistan to commit terrorist acts in the Kunduz province.

In June last year, two ethnic Uzbeks from Tajikistan, who were identified as Komil and Umar, were detained in Kunduz.  They reportedly came to Afghanistan from Russia.

Earlier, the Afghan Government expressed concern about presence of militants from Central Asia’s nations, including Tajikistan, within the ranks of the Taliban.
