No preconditions in Tajikistan for occurrence of Kyrgyz events, says PDPT representative

DUSHANBE, April 9, 2010, Asia-Plus  — The latest developments in Kyrgyzstan can affect, to a certain extent, the situation in Central Asia, Muoso Asozoda, an official with the ruling People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan (PDPT), said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, there are people in any country around the world who are dissatisfied with their government and existing order and they may follow the lead given by the Kyrgyz opposition at any moment.

However, he refuses the possibility of occurrence of such a situation in Tajikistan.  “Of course, it does not mean that everything is good in Tajikistan and there are no any problem here,” said Asozoda, “We have problems, but they are not so serious to force those dissatisfied to go to demanding change of power.”

He is sure that there are no preconditions in Tajikistan for occurrence of the Kyrgyz events here.  He considers that not only domestic problems have caused the political unrest in Kyrgyzstan, “external forces have also played a role in that unrest.”

“Central Asia’s countries, Kyrgyzstan in particular, have been in the zone of interests of world powers in recent years,” said Asozoda, “Some of them want to strengthen their influence in the region, while others are not interested in that, as a result Kyrgyzstan has experienced “color revolutions.”
